My name is Monica Murillo Parra.
I graduated from the Counseling Psychology program at Teachers College, Columbia University with a concentration in Bilingual Latinx Mental Health.

Monica Murillo Parra, M.A, Ed.M
Monica is bilingual in English and Spanish and passionate about working with Spanish speaking immigrant communities. She is graduated with a Masters in Mental Health Counseling with a bilingual concentration at Teachers College, Columbia University and earned her Bachelors of Arts in Forensic Psychology. Prior to completing her master degree, she worked with youth within the foster care system. As a therapist, she provides advocacy and personal counseling to clients, and enjoys sharing somatic exercises and practices with clients from a trauma informed perspective.

I'm passionate about working with Spanish speaking communities . As a first-generation Colombian-American immigrant, I enjoy exploring and incorporating themes about culture, language, traditions and family roles in diverse communities of various cultural backgrounds.
I also emphasize using a strength centered approach with clients.

As a therapist, I focus on a person centered and feminist approach. I provide a nonjudgmental atmosphere lead by the client as the main driver in discussion and in their process . The goal is for a client to come to discover their own solutions without the clinician interfering in the organic process of self-discovery and growth. I provide counseling services in English and Spanish.

Mi nombre es Mónica Murillo Parra. Estudie en Teachers College en la Universidad de Columbia en el programa de consejería de salud mental. Me entusiasma poder trabajar con la comunidad de habla hispana. Como inmigrante colombiana-estadounidense de primera generación, disfruto explorar temas sobre cultura, lenguaje, tradiciones y roles familiares en diversas comunidades de varios orígenes culturales. También enfatizo el uso de un enfoque centrado sobre fortalezas de los clientes con quien trabajo.
